Just Saying “No” to White Flour: An Update

All I can say is “wow.” I stopped eating white flour on Sunday, January 3. Three days later and the four pounds I’ve been playing with for the past 8-10 weeks are gone! Plus, I’ve lost an additional pound. Not bad for three days.

Other than Monday’s obsession with Sun Chips, I didn’t go through much withdrawal as I did when I gave up sugar. This experience is more akin to breaking a bad habit. I’d find myself reaching for a food that contained white flour, then reminding myself, “Oh, wait, I’ve stopped eating that.”

One night this week I was channel surfing and I caught Dr. Oz on Joy Behar’s show. He was talking about healthy weight management, among other things. He advised viewers to get all of the “white stuff” such as sugar and flour out of our kitchens. I was glad to receive this affirmation.

I’d like to say that I feel fantastic, but I have a sinus infection. (Or could this be a detox symptom? Hmmm.) I’m anxious to see how I feel once it clears.

I call all the white stuff hidden sugars. Almost ALL processed foods spike your insulin the same as white table sugar plus they are nutritionally dead. Keep up the good work. You ARE on the path!

Agreed, Dave. The white stuff is “dead.” Great way to think about it. Thank you for your encouragement.
