Snapshot Saturday, 7-4-15: Bricks and Blooms

My day began here.

poolNotice how still the water is? I shot this at 7 a.m. Lynn and I were the first in the pool. Why are there pennies lined up on my lane, you ask? Each penny equals one lap. One lap equals fifty meters. After each lap I slid a penny a few inches away. It’s the only way I can keep an accurate count. Today I swam 700 meters. My August triathlon includes a 600 meter swim, so I’ve got the distance down. Today was a “brick” day, so I decided 700 meters was sufficient. On days when I only swim I’ll take the distance to about 1,000 meters (20 pennies).

From the pool I went here.

I didn’t take my phone with me, so here’s a shot I took this winter. This is the trail behind the Y. I did a 3.5 mile walk/run. Brick complete!

From there I went…

There’s just something about completing a triathlon training brick that makes me think I’ve earned a venti-decaf-skinny caramel latte, extra-hot. I had a gift card which made it all the more fun.

Once I got home with my venti-decaf-skinny caramel latte (extra hot), I went outside to cut some flowers. Making an arrangement has become a Saturday tradition. Today I went for a patriotic look.

4th arrangementI used Veterans Honor and Dick Clark roses for the red, Moondance roses and Limelight hydrangea for the white, and lavender substituted for the blue. Those of you who know  the rules of floral design, please don’t judge. I’m enjoying my little masterpiece.

And now, here’s what’s been happening in the yard this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope all of you here in the U.S. as well as our servicemen and women overseas have a wonderful Fourth of July. And for those of you who are reading from elsewhere (like my cyberfriend Fat Guy to Tri Guy up there in Canada) I hope you have a fun-filled Saturday.
