Seeing the Stones sans social media

Last week hubs and I saw the Rolling Stones in concert. It was our fifth Stones show but our first since the advent of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapch….you get the picture.

A couple of months ago we saw Fleetwood Mac.  I annoyed myself. I was snapping pictures and posting them instantly. I wasn’t enjoying the show, I was reporting on the show. I decided the Stones would be different.

Oh, I snapped pictures. But I did so to record a moment in time, not to report in real time about my being at the show. I was really present in the moment and really enjoying myself. And it was a post-free evening.

By not posting during the show I was more present for my boyfriend, Mick Jagger.

The concert made me re-evaluate how I use social media. My Facebook, Twitter and Instagram peeps will still have to contend with all of the photos from my garden. I love posting and connecting with other gardeners from all over the world.

But realize I enjoy myself more when I’m living in the moment, not posting in the moment.
