Rediscovering Mornings

In my last post I mentioned a few things that had recently kept me from training. The lack of structure was beginning to affect my mood in a negative way. Last week I found myself sleeping until the last possible moment before needing to get ready for work. With the beginning of triathlon training on Saturday, I feel like I’m back to my old self and I am enjoying my mornings again.

Yesterday I awoke before sunrise and was at a nearby green way before 6 a.m. In fact, mine was the first car parked in the lot. I returned home after my brief run and still had about 25 minutes to spare before needing to shower and get ready for work. That gave me time to refill my hummingbird feeders with syrup I’d made the night before, water my potted plants and weed a small flower bed. A workout AND a quick session in the garden; that’s heaven.

Once inside I had my quiet time. I felt so much gratitude for last week’s funk being lifted and I concentrated on that during prayer.
