I ran across this story on Runnersworld.com (“ran across.” Did you see what I did, there?)
Derek Mitchell, who weighs 570 pounds, wanted to complete a 5K. He began training on January first and completed his first 5K on March 14, the same day I enjoyed my half marathon comeback. Derek has committed to finishing one 5K per month for the rest of the year. He’s committed to two in May, so he’ll do 11 events this year. Isn’t that fantastic?!
It would be so easy for this guy to stay on the couch. I’m glad he reached deep down within and found a way to go for it.
