The kind staffers at my Y let members stow our keys in the front desk drawer while we work out. A few days ago as I was leaving, I reached into the drawer to retrieve my keys. A lady standing nearby jokingly said, “You should shop around in there and grab the set for the car you really want.” I answered with a smile, “I actually like my car.”
I drive a used Honda CRV that hubs and I bought following the wreck we had in May. It’s a nice, dependable car that gets me from Point A to Point B.
The car I drive wasn’t the point and wasn’t the reason for my response. I answered that way because I try to live my life with a spirit of contentment. I’m not perfect at that, far from it. But I don’t move through life wishing for a bigger house, fancier car, more expensive clothes. For today, I have what I need and for that I am grateful.
