Swim, Bike,…Me?

I stuck my neck out there and applied for membership on the Swim Bike Mom Ambassador Team (triathlon). Why would I do such a thing? Well, as I explained in my application, I represent the 50+ age group as well as the back of the packers who simply delight in being active. I’m one of those “if she can do it, I can do it” inspirational people. In fact, I can’t tell you how many people have told me that they trained for their first half marathon because they figured if I can do it, so can they. I guess I remind them of their crazy Aunt Gladys who will try anything.

Writing the application forced me to establish my 2015 triathlon goals, an activity I usually reserve for the month of December. I haven’t done a triathlon this year. The hernia surgery and recovery put me behind in training and I didn’t catch up. But I’m training now and getting a jump on next year’s events.

I’ll find out in October or November whether or not I won a place on the team. Regardless of whether or not I’m chosen, I’m going to work toward the goals I claimed. And in applying I stepped outside of my comfort zone.

Wish me luck!
