McDonald’s stock took a bit of a tumble in July.
CNBC’s Jim Cramer calls it a REVOLT against the McChain’s unhealthy fare. He thinks the world is wising up to the dangers of eating this so called food.
I think he may be right. Movies like “Fed Up” are helping us wise up to just how awful fast food really is (and how outrageous it is that the food is being served in public schools across the U.S.).
I’ll be curious to see what McDonalds does to try to turn the tide. I’m expecting some sort of “healthy selections” campaign.
In other news, I recently received an email from one of the grocery chains in my area alerting me to the fact that it is lowering the prices of many of its selections, including organic vegetables. This is likely due to the fact that Walmart is now carrying organic veggies. And why would Walmart carry organics? Because shoppers asked for them.
Ok, so McDonalds’ stock has dropped meaning fewer people are eating there. My grocery store is lowering prices on healthy stuff.
Maybe, just maybe, if we keep speaking with our pocketbooks we may be able to get the U.S. food supply back to a more natural, healthy state. And this next hope is pretty radical, but perhaps we can get the government out of bed with Monsanto.
Let’s keep up the good work. We’re making progress.
