So many stories. So many reasons to be proud of human resilience.
Last week I had a chance to listen to a little NPR during my drive home from an out-of-state speaking engagement. A trauma surgeon with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center was being interviewed. After reflecting on the tragic events, he mentioned he’s going to be at the finish line today. Actually, he plans to be standing on the exact spot where one of the bombs exploded. He’ll be cheering on his colleagues who trained for the marathon in honor of the patients they treated.
Two other special people will be participating in the marathon. Team Hoyt, the father/son duo of Dick and Rick Hoyt will participate in their last Boston Marathon today. Last year was supposed to be their finale, but the bombs went off as they were at Mile 23. Here’s a link to a story about the Hoyts. I hope you’ll take a moment to read it and watch the video. You’ll be inspired and motivated. I promise.
