Dear Black Friday Shoppers,

I won’t pretend to understand you and your love of waking up at oh-dark-thirty to hit the malls with thousands of your closest friends. I don’t like shopping and I don’t like crowds. Your Black Friday adrenaline rush would mean an anxiety attack for me. But in spite of being baffled by you, I adore you.

Thanks to you my Friday was Introvertastic.

  • The gym was a ghost town. Other than being slightly annoyed by the man who didn’t clean the weight machines after using them, I had a nice, long, quiet workout, with no waiting for machines.
  • After working out I breezed into my favorite juice bar for a post-workout glass of deliciousness. I had the pick of the parking spaces and all of the staff were there just for me. Quinton made me feel like I was at Cheers because he had time to chat, as did I.
  • My bi-annual “take my mom to the cemetery to decorate her parents’ and my dad’s graves” expedition was free of traffic; there’s no mall nearby.
  • My weekly grocery store run was free of crowds. You could have heard a pin drop.

And so, you wild and crazy shoppers, thank you. Thank you for giving me the gift of peace, serenity, and quiet.

I’ll never understand you, and that’s o.k.

Love,

Pam
