I know what it feels like to be in the back of the pack during race events, especially when the field is small. But I can’t imagine what Maikel Melamed went through mentally and physically as he spent 17 hours on the Chicago Marathon course.
Melamed has muscular dystrophy. Why would he put himself though a marathon? “Because I can do it! That’s the point. If you can do something, you discover you can do it, and then you have to do it,” Melamed said. He plans to run the Tokyo Marathon.
If, like me, you sometimes want to skip your workout, let Maikel Melamed inspire you to get off the couch. In fact, I think I’ll head on over to the gym.
