I’d been fighting some sinus drainage all weekend. I thought if I ignored it, it would go away. I thought wrong. I awoke yesterday morning with lots of chest congestion. Coughing hurt. I felt like this…
I’m sure you’ve experienced that before.
The old me would have (probably) gone to the gym. The old me would have gone to work. After all, this is a sinus issue and not a virus, so I’m not contagious.
But I want to be a New Me.
New Me skipped yesterday’s workout and skipped it again this morning. New Me understands that when the congestion is in the chest, one ought not work out.
New Me worked from home yesterday. My fabulous co-workers accommodated my need to attend a two-hour meeting via telephone. I spent the rest of the day dialed in to my agency’s network, working on projects, making calls and drinking fluids like nobody’s business. While I’m not 100% better, I’m well enough to be seen in public now and I’m back at the office today.
I’m grateful that New Me did what she needed to do to get her needs met.
I’ve decided I like New Me. I think I’ll keep her around.
