I’m DELIGHTED to report I completed physical therapy today. No more 7 a.m. visits on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Squeeeeee!
After going through my round of exercises, therapist Jessi measured the flexibility of my ankle, foot and toe. I achieved all of the flexibility goals my surgeon had ordered. The swelling in my toe has decreased by half a centimeter, which Jessi said is good. I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday and I hope he agrees I’ve passed with flying colors.
I have to keep doing my exercises at home until I’m cleared to do all of my normal activities. Since I’m going to be allowed to run on Memorial Day, Jessi and I agree that I can stop doing my at-home PT on that day.
I can expect continued pain for a while longer. It’s normal and nothing to be concerned about. Yesterday I walked three miles on the treadmill in anticipation of tomorrow’s Girls on the Run 5k. The faster I walked, the more it hurt. Actually it hurt like the devil. I hope tomorrow’s race crew is patient as I take my sweet time to finish the course.
Now that formal PT is behind me I’m excited to resume my six days per week gym schedule. Yep, I’ve finished PT and I’ve got the t-shirt to prove it.
Good News!!!!! Have a good Run on Memorial Day….
Follow up with OS and I can walk with two shoes once I have orthotics – 5/21. I was given my drivers license back but will
Take it slow. 6 weeks more PT on the foot. Feels good, X-rays fine.
Real progress !
Tom! That’s wonderful. I was wondering how things were going with you. I’m so glad you checked back with an update. When I started driving again, I also took it slow. I stayed off the interstate until I regained foot strength…and confidence! 🙂
May 21 will be here before you know it!
Driving is ok, freedom…..no foot – pedal problem.
Tom, you are achieving one milestone after another. Congrats on the driving. I’m happy for you!

Folks, will miss them.
Congrats on the crutch freedom! I understand what you mean about missing the therapists. The two times I’ve gone through PT I had such wonderful support that I missed them when it was over. I just never missed having to fit the appointments into my day.
How many more sessions do you have?
Not sure how many more PT sessions left. Waiting for orthotics on Tuesday (5/21).
