Let me be clear, this isn’t a post about labor unions vs. management. It’s about the health of our nation. I’ve been reading quite a few Facebook posts and on-line articles about Hostess’s decision to shut ‘er down. No more Twinkies. No more Wonder Bread. No more Ho Hos.
I say this is a good thing. The fact that so many folks are up in arms about this is telling. This kind of “food” is addictive to many and just plain unhealthy to everyone. Want to know what’s in a Twinkie? Here you go.
Gross, huh?
Of course, folks are banking on panic-stricken, withdrawal fearing, sugared-up Americans to pony up and buy the remaining supply of this poison. Just take a look at all of the Twinkie entries on Ebay. On Saturday 10 boxes of 1o Twinkies had a bid of $305 dollars! That’s some serious jonzing.
I’m sorry for those who will lose their jobs, but I’m not sorry there will be less crap on the market substituting for food. Twinkies may just be the worst of the worst.
What about you? Does the thought of a world without Twinkies get you in a cold sweat, or are you glad to see them go?
