When A Little Is Enough

I now remember why I work out first thing in the morning. It’s 12:30 on a gorgeous Saturday and I’m very unmotivated to run. It’s not that I’ve been a slug today. On the contrary. I’ve worked on a project for the office, done the weekly grocery shopping and bought a few new skirts and sweaters for Spring. I even planted my herb garden.ย  The day feels half over and I feel tired and sluggish. A run is just not in my future today.

So I made a deal with myself. I’m making myself go to the YMCA for 30 minutes of cardio followed by a strength training session for my legs. I’ll also do some ab work …but not on a machine. (Happy, Corinne? ๐Ÿ™‚ ) In exchange for a light workout day, I’ll get up early tomorrow and run three or four miles before Easter church services.

I put a lot of demands on myself. Some days I need to give myself a break and declare that being willing to do just a little bit will be enough.

Today is one of those days.
